Lindsay and Zach live in The Highlands neighborhood of Denver, Colorado with their 2 year old boy, Westley. Such a super nice family that is now expecting their 2nd child on February 1st. As repeat clients of mine, this is the third time we have photographed together and the comfort level is great so I suggested we shoot maternity portraits in their home and wanted to capture the beauty and love of a family in their every day life.
The kitchen is often one of the best places that families hang out together in so we decided to start photographing there. The three of them had some fun with Westley just being a two year old boy, hanging with Lindsay on her lap, climbing up his mom's leg, laughing, touching her pregnant belly, "kissing" the baby belly but really turned into almost a big head-butt ha ha!
A few tender moments with Zach and Lindsay interacting breaks up the laughter with loving looks and a kiss, all the while Westley just plays on the kitchen floor. Even though I lightly directed the scene, they easily dove in and just had a great time...forgetting I was there capturing these genuinely powerful images.
Little Westley continued to play on his own and Lindsay had a craving for peanut butter…so, why not hang out for some Lindsay time and day dream a little…while enjoying a cup of tea and some Jif! ;)
As it always happens in family life though…mom private moments are often fleeting and along comes little Wesley. We see Lindsay look down adoringly and give him a light touch, affirming her love for him and still dreaming of the new baby that will be Westley’s sibling soon enough.
Well, Zach decided to come over and be playful because isn't it fun feeding your beautiful, pregnant wife a big spoonful of peanut butter while she sits on the stove?! ;)
Some playful moments and laughing out loud again turns into a loving embrace and a kiss.
Well, now the peanut butter spurs a little exploration of the fridge to see what else might be good to nibble on so into the fridge they go. Look, grapes are tasty and refreshing, let's snack on those! Food can be fun!
Hey, it's time to chill on the couch and watch a little football...both Lindsay and Zach are routing for the Texans in the playoffs. They get comfy on the couch and here comes little Westley who is more interested in Zach's watch than the football game. Curiosity about the baby also intrigues Westley so yeah, let's put our finger into Lindsay's belly button and see what happens! :)
The Texans didn't win, so Lindsay takes control of the clicker...time to change the channel to the 2nd game of the day.
I hung out for 4 hours with this awesome family! I really love how these "Day in the Life of an Expecting Family" turned out and feel the black and white style lends itself to focusing on their emotions of fun, love and romance without color pops interfering with their actions and facial expressions.
Beyond these lifestyle moments, I did capture many other more posed images of Lindsay and Zach and some of just Lindsay in all her pregnant glory. Those are in my Bump section in Lindsay's section. LOVE those too!
